Do you stick to name brand equipment?

Post by Avery » August 19th, 2019, 12:13 am

With all of the various aquarium companies out there, either that are sold locally in your shops, or that can be bought online and shipped overseas - do you stick to more name brands (Aqueon, Tetra, etc.), buy off-brands that may have a relation to a name brand (Aqua Culture to Tetra, some Top Fin canister filters to Eheim), or do you by completely off brand equipment (SunSun for example)?

I use a mixture, name brand for key things like heaters, but filters and everything else I’m up to try off brand or whatever is cheap on Amazon that shows good reviews. Even if it’s name brand, of it has bad reviews I’ll gladly avoid it at all costs.

It depends - for filters and heaters? Hell yeah, for other things, as long as it has good and honest reviews online, I'll give it a shot for awhile until it breaks or needs to be replaced.

I'm the one of the fools who likes sticking to brand names.

However, if it has been proven by someone whom I trust that certain product is viable (even if it's cheap knockoff) I'll give it a test run for sure.

Main problem is that brands trying to have cheaper products, start runing their brand products that they are known for. So in some instances, it is just better to simply use what works for you. If this makes sense. :)
