What are your opinions on GloFish?

With the rise of creating more unique, vibrant, and sometimes one off color variations, what do you think about the trend of genetic modification of fish such as GloFish?

I personally think that genetically modifying the fish to change its appearance (and more importantly the fact that it was created to source out bad water quality) to something that would never occur naturally, but save the industry from the common dying/injecting fish of colors, is a huge plus. The even cooler part is that they can create more GloFish if they just happen to naturally breed in your aquarium while other non-ethical adaptions will not pass down.

For those who don’t know what GloFish actually are, here is a small quote from their website (with their actual website link listed below).
GloFish fluorescent fish are born brilliant! They are not injected or dyed. They inherit their harmless, lifelong color from their parents, and require the same care as any other community fish. GloFish are great for any home, office, or classroom and perfect for hobbyists and beginners alike.

GloFish care is exactly the same as it is for their non-fluorescent counterparts.

I kind of like them, and don’t really see a huge issue with them whatsoever, although I know plenty of people who think that they are dyed or injected like some fish breeders do.

I just wish that their price was lower, since $8-9 just for one fish that I could get a few tanks over for $1.50 or $2.50 is a tad high. I do like that they are going with other fish breeds now (such as with the rainbow shark recently). Makes me super curious on what they will add next as their newest option.
