I just purchased it from the store under their lighting. Let me see if it makes a difference since I’m not sure what lighting they are using.

I've been reading about using 'Lucky Bamboo' (Dracaena sanderiana) for a nitrate filter. The only problem is that it is widely held that Dracaena sanderiana is highly toxic to cats. Do you know of another less/non-toxic but equally usable plant?

are there just aquatic plants that only need florescent light non of the special lighting ?

As far as making sure they can get along compatibility wise, I would lean on good research. Otherwise you can always look for the first hour and make sure that the new fish isn’t getting nipped anywhere, and isn’t nipping anyone (the normally will get aggressive as time goes on since they have to understand the pecking order already in the tank).

100% recommend this, since you want to drip acclimate them. DO NOT put the old fish bag's water into your water, use a bucket to drip acclimate and then a net to put them into your tank when they are acclimated.

If it's a simple disease, just run the heater with water on high. If it's something serious, bleach and a giant bottle of white vinegar before using soap and then hot water until I can't smell any of it.

I have taken over a tank which has an infestation of brown hair algae and diatoms, which is rampant. It grows incredibly fast and looks like large brown dust or tumbleweed. I use a turkey baster to blow it off of plants and substrate and then vacuum it out of the tank. I'm doing water changes and lowering the lighting but it's a very persistent algae.

What Kind of Geeky Fishy Thing Are You Doing Today?

Hey just a quick question about live rock. I brought one yesterday put it in my salt water tank. How long does it take for the color to come back?

I have a moderate sized tank and had 2 guppies, a male and female, in my aquarium. At last count, I must have at least 20 young guppies and possibly more! There is no way I can keep all of them for longer than a week or two and am glad to do a free guppy giveaway!

Would appreciate some recommendations for an Algae Eater or two to go in my 55 gal community tank. Currently have 6 cory's, 6 tiger barbs, 5 serape tetras, & 5 FM betas in the community. Would like to have something that would not exceed 3-4" at adult growth. Plest's quickly outgrow the tank has been my past experience.
