I have a variety of living and artificial plants in my tank that provides enough cover for the fishes to hide and play. I have colored rocks and pebbles which add some color and life to the tank.

It is not recommended to add salt to the freshwater aquariums as rightly pointed out the water would become brackish. The best way to treat parasites and stress in fishes is using the dip or bath method where the fishes are placed in salted water for five to thirty minutes or upon any distress exhibited by the fishes and placed back in the tank.

Firstly, the brown algae has to be removed physically from the tank. Proper lighting has to be provided from about 6-8 hours. RO water that is free from nitrates and silicates will not allow the growth of brown algae in tanks. Any sign of brown algae has to be tackled in the initial stages itself otherwise it will grow into a terrible menace for the whole fish tank.
