From all of the matrixes shown online that show fish species and when they are compatible, do you think that they are helpful or not so much help?

If helpful, do you think there should be one here as well shared with others who are beginners or so?

I feel like many people don’t put too much effort into checking freshwater plants for the water temperature unless the plant is melting (due to high or cold heat) as they do with corals for saltwater tanks.

I know that every few months we (researchers) tend to find new species that are living in either closed-off environments or those that are living in the deep sea that we have yet to completely explore (more of the new species tend to come out after a hurricane or a tsunami due to the waves pushing them up and forward to the surface).

I think there is a bunch of things we can learn, from how they have evolved to live in those conditions to even what they do for food sources and day-to-day suriving in harsh conditions.

I would agree with everyone here, I would advise against that since they require completely different water parameters.

And to one other member’s point, what did you end up doing in terms of tank mates for the given tank?

I wondered what everyone’s favorite fish food is, and why you use it. Did you try others or did you just go with what you read was good, or that came with your tank when you bought it?

This is a rather odd subject, but I've been wondering if the outlets on the canister filters make much of a difference in the tank.

I'm just curious as to what everyone's opinions and preferences are regarding the different outlet options. Is there any reason to choose one of the other? What are the pros and cons of each setup and does it make that big of a difference overall?

How were you able to complete the seeding process, and did you have any special method you used (ex; placing live rock around dry rock, mixing them together), did you do this in a smaller tank/bucket (to make it happen faster) or did you just do it all in the actual tank?

Would there be any additional benefits when it comes to adding in tannins to a saltwater tank? I know that in freshwater, it would lower the pH slightly and also make the water less hard overall, but not sure if that benefit would align or if there are other benefits?

Thank you for always trying and finding a resolution! Super excited to see any changes that make it my way as well and make this community bigger.

Have you ever thought about adding any more filters to your tank but are worried about having too many filters? When do you think a tank has too much filtration (media wise, as water current created, can be told if the fish are calm or stressed from swimming too much)?

Is this still an issue? I haven’t seen any of these plants at any Petsmart at all even to this day, and curious if they just stopped carrying them due to the bad press.

Since many filters come with bags of carbon (that do have a limited lifespan before everything that they soak up is released again), do you use carbon in your tank and if so, how frequently do you replace the carbon to make sure it doesn’t leach out everything it soaked up?

I agree, I have seen many people build them from wood purchased at Home Depot - but I’d be afraid that if it's not perfectly balanced or if I didn’t have enough structural support where it would randomly collapse in the middle of the night.

Do you have any good links to guides on how to make sure it can support the pretty heavy weight of an aquarium?
