Many people tend to give their kids goldfish and they unfortunately don't know how to take care of them properly. I've seen some mature goldfish at restaurants before, and they look beautiful. It's amazing to see how large they can get if they get the care they need.

I remember over feeding my friend's fish when I was a kid. I didn't really know when to stop, his parents should have kept an eye out on me. I recall seeing excess food floating around in the water. I can't be too harsh on myself though, as I was a kid.

I haven't come across this yet however I'd feel bad getting rid of the fish so I would gladly start taking care of them. I don't think I'd move them out of the tank they've grown accustomed to either, unless the poor fish were in harsh conditions. Then I'd clean up the tank, and make sure they have a healthy, clean tank.

Interesting, I've always wondered why my best friend's fish tank had some snails in it as a kid. I remember his parents were having a difficult time trying to figure out where they were coming from, and it makes sense now. xD

Some algae is good for your fish tank's ecosystem. However, you don't want too much building up in your tank since you don't want to deprive your fish of nutrients.

I believe it comes down to the species of fish. Scientists have noticed that certain species can recognize their owners. There was a study on Angelfish that proved the fish reacted to different people who approached their tank.

I agree with most people here, the bigger the better. Of course it also depends on how many fish you'd like to have in your tank.

My spouse and I have thought about getting a Axolotl at some point. However, since they're endangered I can imagine they can be challenging to take good care of. For now we'll just admire them from afar, I would feel terrible if I couldn't care for one properly.

My spouse's dad had to do this, one of their fish got sick and they obviously didn't want the illness to spread to the rest of the tank.

I would decorate my tank with some colorful rocks as well as adding a little scuba diver figure. I also add a little castle that my fish could hide in.
