I know that as an adult you can clearly tell the difference between the two species, but as juveniles how can one see the difference? I feel like at pet stores they could have both accidentally and not even know - which is a huge issue if someone thinks their frog will be fine in a small tank and gets bigger than they think.

Most easy trait even when young is that they have claws on their arms (ACF) where as ADF just have claws on their feet. Their eyes are also on different positions, ADF have their eyes on the side and ACF have their eyes on the top of their head.

Interesting - are there any such albino African dwarf frogs? Or are those only the African clawed ones?

Now that you mention these distinctions, they seem easier to tell apart than I thought.
