I keep seeing online a bunch of people who have ponds outside of their house (using those liners), or actual ponds in their area. If you have a pond near you, do you have any local turtles that are in it, and if so, what species?

Have you ever had a dirted tank before where there was a layer of soil for the plants? If so, did you inherit it or did you set it all up, and if you set it all up then what soil did you use and how much growth did you get from your plants?

Looks like with the migration we lost the selections to those who picked a post to be the best answer. I’ve gone though and manually resynced these, although you might see a notification or group of emails due to this. Thank you!

Out of habit in dealing with older heaters that weren’t fully submersible - I’ve always placed all of my heaters vertical in my tanks (preferably close to the intake or outlet of my filter(s)).

I’ve been using Seachem Prime since forever, I only recall ever using a Tetra/Aqueon product when it came with a tank I purchased and just wanted to have it filled up and good to go right away.
I don’t think there are too many products that have any negatives, and any just have additional things they do besides just reducing chlorine into a nontoxic chemical (such as trapping ammonia, adding slime coats to fish, etc).

I’d try a dozen or more honestly to get started. Then try to see how much food there is for them since they will be competing with the cory catfishes, and the pleco for the bottom ground of food. Otherwise you can easily add more than that if you notice that everyone is getting enough food without any issues.

I normally just have some driftwood in my tanks, maybe some type of slate/lace rock, and of course having a ton of live plants in there too.

I would say my personal favorite are the blue acara cichlids, their super reflective light blue coloration just grabs your attention in the tank (especially with dark backgrounds and substrate or planted tanks).

With the water always splashing on your light fixtures (unless you have glass lids), how do you manage to keep them clean and what do you use to make that happen?

Since many people who dose CO2 try to turn their air pumps off (since the extra gas exchange that the air bubbles creates will effectively released any additional CO2 you add to the tank) - do you have a schedule when you dose?
Do you have an air pump on during night since the plants release CO2 (and this would level the parameters out), or do you only do so shortly after/before dosing?

Since not all of the algae that we find in our tanks are bad, some are specifically good for keeping things stabilized (and some species happy with a constant food source), what types of macroalgae have you tried to grow and how did it turn out? Did you try to grow it in your refugium, or in your actual tank?

Since we all have heard of various unpopular opinions when it comes to marine tanks, what is your (un)favorite that you have heard?
-
I know that Petco does since they have saltwater tanks (and some local stores I know require water samples before they even will sell you any marine animals). I believe it’s free at any store I’ve been too, I’m not too sure of many that charge since they would love to upsell you later dependent on how your results came back.

Since there are a ton of spots to place it around your tank (far away from another, in a sump, or even close to your filter intake), where do you place it and why?
I personally tend to place mine right next to my filter intake to make sure that there is enough water movement to keep the water at a constant temperature - if I am unable to place it inside of a sump (or the given tank doesn’t have a sump).

DEPENDS ON LOCATION I THINK BUT COOL SALE FOR WHO GETS IT
100% agree, it seems that they are moving away from a nation wide event and are shifting to regional events (probably due to supply constraints or a specific regional warehouse being too loaded with tanks).
We’ll see try to track them under the national level, but let us know if you see any in region specific areas so we can mark them as well - thank you!

I’d agree with Gilbert in this case. It really depends on what type of light you want to get, since some aren’t sold in stores and only are from the manufacturer.
Other times it might be ideal to buy from a store if they have coupons, deals, membership discounts (like Petsmart does with their app and the game that gives you 5-20% off coupons).

We have a good guide on how to acclimate them into the new tank’s water here; Properly Acclimating Inhabitants
As far as making sure they can get along compatibility wise, I would lean on good research. Otherwise you can always look for the first hour and make sure that the new fish isn’t getting nipped anywhere, and isn’t nipping anyone (the normally will get aggressive as time goes on since they have to understand the pecking order already in the tank).

I was wondering why I was having issues connecting to here from Tapatalk - but lovely! Also looks like you guys solved the “liking” issue with Tapatalk too!
Thank you for the updates and always trying to provide the best experience!

Exactly! Thankfully with the new server, the required backend modules could be installed that allowed for that to be re-enabled! 🎉

It depends - if it’s like wood from driftwood or leaves from any plants, I’ll tend to leave it. Over time most poop and excess food tends to be mixed by snails (unless I have like gravel in which case I’ll just gravel vacuum it after a week or two of collecting).

Have you ever brought something new into the tank, either live rock, various species of fish that were ordered, or other aspects and noticed days or months later you had hitchhikers?
Did you keep them, or did you kill them as fast as you noticed their presence? What were they if you can remember?
