I feed them every other day, although some species like goldfish need to be fed throughout the day since they don’t have an actual stomach. Otherwise, other than a few edge species, I don’t think there is any reason to feed any fish every single day (or multiple times a day).

Just use your tap water that has been chlorine free or has had it removed with water conditioners. The bottles you see on the shelf as basically glorified drinking water you can find at any grocery store for far cheaper.

The rating for chillers is done by horsepower to describe the amount of water that it can chill and to what degree (ex; higher horsepower means a more powerful pump and ability to cool water). It’s a combo since the chilling aspect and pump are shared from the single motor.

That’s very common as noted, and is really just due to the snail getting air trapped inside of the shell (that will come out naturally or you can turn the snail upside down to remove the air sometimes).

Vinegar, using good old elbow grease is probably the best. Sponges work, and if the dirt or grime is bad even trying to use hot water + a pocket knife to not scratch the glass but remove anything tough sticking on it (from my last lovely experience when I bought a used tank with horrible calcium stains all over).

Last I checked the fish they would put in there would either later be taken out after the video was done, or they would pretty much all do poorly since their acclimation method and species selections were poor for the tanks they had them in.

Yeah unfortunately I read the same as well. Kind of a sad situation (for the species at the time). I’m hopeful that they did at least offer servicing options for those places that had no idea how to even take care of a reef tank, or freshwater tank.

Has anyone watched (before it got cancelled) the tv show called Tanked? Ironically there are a few shops near me that have these tanks that were designed by then, but the insides look completely different or area ironically empty-ish compared to how they had loaded them up in the show.

Has anyone made or have steps on how to build a nice hood for any generic sized aquarium? The trouble I’m having is that people are either buying these plastic ones (or using glass lids), or they sell wood(particleboard?) hoods but you have to buy the stand combo and they are completely overpriced.

Trying to aim for a nice look without breaking the bank, while also being able to hide all of the annoying cords and lights at the top that are basically needed.

I think it really depends on the tank size and setup. A few tanks look amazing with just one species that is highlighted with the aquascape. Others have their aquascape to more or less reflect the habitat that you may find the given fish in, so a community tank actually becomes way more popular or better to view.

I’ve mixed a few different types of sand together in order to make a less uniform look and to allow for burrowing species to have a better natural feel than some sand from shops have.

That one is the generic one Avery shared (also weird on Tapatalk I have to download the image vs. see it, might be a bug or an issue with attachments vs. photos directly in the post).

If you need specific per each species, I’d just Google it or ask here whatever species of plant you have and I’m sure we can find a corresponding image to fit!

Has anyone had any luck with keeping any crayfish with any plants in their tank (real or even fake)? A local shop near me says that they will pretty much clip any plants and rearrange their tank like many cichlids do, but curious if it’s temperament related possibly or just a general thing all of them.

Has anyone here tried to use an in-line heater from their canister filter into their tank (or maybe their canister filter actually have this built in)? If so what are you reviews, I’d be worried that it would be getting water in the same area but with any dead spots you may have water that is way cooler than one would like.

I just recently had one of my older filters due (I’m assuming something in the motor went bad) and was wondering if you all just buy a new filter (the motor is a part I can take apart and put back together in the filter itself) or replace the part that went bad if you can find it online or through the manufacturer? Obviously this is something that is out of warranty so a claim won’t do anything, and this didn’t have any type of “lifetime” warranty on it either.
