Personally I wouldn't buy a gallon size, unless I was looking to only feed 1 or 2 relatively small fish for awhile. I would think it would be ethical, so long as normal precautions are taken to keep the fish alive.
That's very correct, the number of fish you're planning on breeding in the pond would be a big factor in determining whether it's wise to go for it or not. Perhaps, he'd have intention on small projects for it, so it's a good decision if that happens.
On the long run of usage, it's going to dissolve and it's not entirely safe in my opinion but I would recommend making use of Silicone as it's the best you can use and it wouldn't disappoint you.
As far as I'm concerned, I believe that it's something that's very good but what determines whether or not I'm going to be getting it would be the size of my budget. If it's something that I can afford to purchase, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't get it.

I think it depends, I’ve seen a handful of aquarium/aquatic safe superglue, but the issue becomes when you use normal superglue it actually will just dissolves over time in the water in chunks. I’d be super careful on what type of superglue are that point, and just use silicone since it dries clear and has the same adhesive aspect that superglue has but is aquarium and aquatic life save.

Having a drift wood is a constant for my fish because I found out they enjoy it being in their habitat. Also, I do decorate with stones and shells.
