Programmable lighting vs. timers

On a budget, I wouldn't bother, but if you have the funds, they can be cool.

Honestly they are pretty sweet, especially if you are growing plants or sensitive fish that need a slow change from dark to light, and light to dark.

Otherwise using a timer can work if you have multiple lights set to do the same rough thing (just not as sweet).
