What does freshwater amphibians like the most to eat?

  • When it comes to food, the primary diet of the majority of freshwater amphibians is plant matter and invertebrates. But common garter snakes and bullfrogs both have a varied diet including worms, fish, birds, bird eggs, and other frogs. Many species of frogs and toads also have a habit of eating their own tadpoles.

  • Mostly depends on the species - some eat a mixture of plant matter and also meaty-based foods, while others almost exclusively feed on meaty-based substances (some turtles for example snapping turtles).
