Pretty sure this is actually common in office spaces that disallow pets, or even in areas that can’t really get access to food for fish or the required equipment. 100% is do-able and is actually just as fun as fish without any of the maintenance needed.

What did you guys get on Black Friday? Here is my haul for the day in terms of aquatic supplies.
-
I’m normally not a fan of dark themes, but this one fits. Any plans on adding a light style theme?
-
With the new theme/style, it looks like I can’t see the username of any post on any thread using Safari, Chrome or Firefox. See the attachment below for more details.

Maybe snails if you want some things to be extra clean or shrimp - but that won’t eat waste if their own waste they create.
-
No - only time it is helpful is when you are cycling since it needs to filter feed into your filters.
Otherwise only other times you have a decent amount of beneficial bacteria in the water is if you just did a gravel vac and you only used a under gravel filter since that is where all of your beneficial bacteria is for this filter type only (otherwise it’s housed in your filter media in your sponge filter/hang on the back/canister).

I wonder if they will still do any Black Friday deals or if they are going to holdout since a ton of manufacturers closed down at the start of COVID and I’m sure their supplies chains are barely just getting back on track.

100% recommend snails (specifically like Malaysian Trumpet Snails as they hide during the day), or try to get fish that aren’t just impulse buys to eat algae but can fit within your tank and play nicely with other fish. Otos are good for community style tanks, and Chinese Algae Eaters are also really good for more aggressive based tanks if Plecos aren’t your style specifically.
Also have you tried to just solve for what is causing for the algae to grow? Solving that is ideal compared to buying a fish to handle that aspect

Like why equipment, over time it can either become less efficient or become off when it comes with how much its cooling/heating. How do you verify that it’s all working still correctly over time?

Love the idea of listing all of the stores out, but man what a HUGE task that is. I can’t wait to see that map more and more filled out!
-
I think it really depends, if the fish is going to fit the tank (which in many cases from someone else isn’t the case), or can go with the theme I was planning, I would keep it. Otherwise I tend to just either try to sell them off or give it to a local store for free if they can take care of it.

How do you have your lights on your tank? Do you have them hanging, mounted on a wall, using the brackets they come with, or even just laying flat on the lid?
-
What are your favorite types of invertebrates that you own or want to own when you get the correct setup?
I know that a lot of people love having crabs but tend to not know that they require brackish water (or a vast majority sold in stores do), while others seem to always keep shrimp or dwarf crayfish since their ease of care while their colorful nature.

I mostly have been doing top offs once a week, unless I’m gone where I try to fill it as high as possible before I leave.
-
I like the look of sand, or even of those types of gravels that have same uniform shape - something about it is totally eye pleasing.
-
I personally like community tanks since you get to have a lot of different looking fish, lots of variety when it comes to what is swimming around, and better yet get to have more natural types of interactions between species that may or may not the naturally occurred.

If I could get a tank for cheaper than what a designer would want for something standard, I wouldn’t go with the designer that’s for sure
