I avoid decorations with holes/entrances, and that helps a lot.

Oh yeah, I used to get those when I started a lot because I was letting waste build up too much.

How do you get rid of the white spots disease that your fish have? What things have you tried that have worked? What have you tried that didn't work? What treatment works best?
Did you manage to get rid of the white spots?

Thank you both!
Did your fish ever recover from the white spots?

Nope, I seem to end up with enough of it unintentionally anyway =D

Oh, nice! I probably would have missed this if not for this thread.

Sounds like some great improvements going into the new year.

I kind of like the odd shaped ones, only problem is that if you ever buy them used I would 100% make sure you reseal them since their odd shape puts more pressure on the seals than other tanks.
Good point, that is solid advice.

I’m not too sure - possibly make this a goldfish tank or even try out something more unique/not commonly kept (African Dwarf Frogs or Red Claw Crabs). I’d love to try another Fire Belly Toads setup if I could get enough stuff for them and find a nice seller in my area.
Any of those sound like awesome ideas.

I had them for a while as a food source for my cherry shrimp, until all the cherry shrimp died due to an imbalance in the population. I haven’t bought either since.

Earthworm maybe?

I research if it's off-brand to see if I can find out more about the reputation of the manufacturer, and if it seems like it will match a major brand product in terms of quality and save me money, I go for it.

Mine grow in the substrate, so I haven't had to attach them to anything.

Sure, why not? If you enjoy aquatic plants, then grow aquatic plants.

It was a java fern, and nope, everything from my first tank died.

Keeping the plants in your tank can help with its upkeep. I also think my fish prefer a habitat that is as natural as possible, so I give them plants.
