Apart from all the benefits of having plants in your tank, I enjoy the aesthetic feel it gives while watching the fishes inside the tank. The slightly swaying tiny leaves to the motion of the fishes is so refreshing to watch.

I have browsed through the pics of odd shaped tanks but never owned them. I am happy with my regular rectangular one. Easy to maintain and transport.

Initially I was cleaning only once a month but over time I have to clean it more often as the number of fishes have increased and probably my tank also looks old. It gets stained soon and my frequent scrubbing has increased the rate at which my tank gets stained.

With exposure to sunlight the risk of algae growing at a rapid rate is high. This will definitely spoil your water and regular cleaning is a must.

Loaches would also be an ideal choice to have in your shrimp tank. They do not eat shrimp and should not be a problem.

Some guests who had come visiting our home had put some bread crumbs as feed for the fishes and most of my fishes were dead and floating with their stomachs bloated after feeding on it. I still cannot figure out whether it was a consequence of ignorance or a purposely done act.

I would not go for gold fish because they dirty the tank very soon and it is better to keep them in fish bowls. Betta fish especially a single male would be enough for a small tank. Once you get a hang of taking care of fish, you can go for other varieties.

I went for a shortcut and I glued it to the bottom of my tank. So it stayed there till it kind of would have sunk over time. Make sure to use a water resistant glue.

A mixture of vinegar and salt should clean up the sink. It is very easy as you do not even have to scrub.

I am not sure if fish excreta is good for plants and so have not tried it yet. I should give it a try I think.

My fish tank smells bad when fish food and dead leaves accumulate in the tank. Even after removing it, the smell lingers on. So I tried the activated powdered carbon filter mesh bag in my fish tank and that has reduced the smell to a considerable extent.
