Too much algae in fish tank

  • Too much algae can actually cause problems to fish. What happens if there is too much algae in a fish tank? And how to get rid of algae naturally?

  • Too much iron and too much light are the cause of algae in a fish tank. Controlling these two factors can limit the growth of algae.

  • Do you know what type of algae it is? Have you tried to feed less, or try to control any external lights like from a window in the room from directly showing into the tank?

  • You should try and find out the level of nitrates and phosphate in your aquarium because once it's in sufficient quantities, with direct sunlight, it will cause massive growth of algae in your aquarium.
