Petco 50% Off Sale (formerly Dollar Per Gallon Sale)

    Looks like the sale is back on, although many stores and the online store is not showing the correct pricing or promotional material. We’ll update this as we find out more.


    Appears that the sale and notice was in error, as the most recent sale ended May 31st (yet the dates and timing for promotions was listed as dates in June). Unsure if local stores till honor this since the advertisements are still running on websites & on Facebook directly according to other users.

    The restructuring of the Petco 50% Off Sale, previously known as the Dollar Per Gallon Sale, does seem to reflect significant shifts both in their marketing approach and in supply chain realities.     Regarding tank sizes, it’s important to note that the most popular entry-level sizes (10, 20, and 29 gallons) are discounted, while larger tanks—such as the 40 breeder and those up to 90 gallons—receive the 50% discount but are no longer available at the flat $1 per gallon rate. Shoppers should pay special attention to signage and verify eligible tanks before purchasing, as inventory may vary between locations.

    With respect to upcoming sales and Black Friday promotions, the current uncertainty in the supply chain may indeed impact whether Petco will offer additional discounts or stick to their current cycle. Historically, Black Friday has included some notable deals, but this year it may be wise to temper expectations until official announcements are made. Staying alert for updates is likely the best strategy.
