I’ve seen a bunch of different filters come with their own protein skimmer attached to the side of the filter intake, and was curious on if that even makes sense or do you just have it as a first predicted unit before it goes into your main filter setup?

I try to change what it looks like either by moving decorations around, or by trying to mix the fish up or have them be more in-sight or out of sight.
Worst case is buying a brand new tank ?

I’d say acrylic for saltwater tanks since I’m not sure how well silicone will hold up over time, and glass also limits you to how big you can go with weight limits and glass thickness requirements.

How do you all make sure that the glass you are going to drill, is well, drillable? I have looked at a few tanks and there isn’t any single way to see if they are tempered or not which is annoying.
Any tricks or tips to see how I can tell without actually drilling or damaging the bottom (since if it is tempered I’d rather not have to replace the glass just for a test).
Thanks fish fam!

I don’t think there is a fish that eats just waste. Snails and shrimp will shift through the waste to find the leftover food, but I don’t think a single thing eats just pure waste outside of bacteria.

Depends on if I want centerpiece fish, coloration, or if I just want a bunch of flashy fish that zip around )schooling ones).
-
Depends on if you have a filter that is mixing water around or not - if not, I would. However I’d also recommend on getting a few more to bump that number up to 7-10 so that they won’t act so skittish and be hiding due to low numbers.

This right here.
Probably is hiding due to low numbers in the school, but as far as adding an air pump check to see if you have waves on the whole surface of the water if you view below. If not, add one in.

Always I can’r stand the space between the trim and the glass if it’s not filled up high enough

Yea plenty of times and 100% did with Gilbert recommended to make them eat the new food. Have even done this with live foods and trying to transfer them to commercial pellets/flakes.

I always trust someone that I know can take care of them, or I leave a note on how much good exactly to give them if I’m gone for more than a week.

I remember seeing a few in a reptile store, but as noted they do need a bunch of land and not so deep of water (enough to touch the bottom of their leg with). Plus they make a croaking noise that is very similar to a dog barking.

Trying to think about this, but is it possible for some of the freshwater diseases to spread to a saltwater tank by either adding fish that can be mixed in (Mollies for example) or by sharing equipment?

As always, keep up the amazing work! Definitely to see goals and changes being met while also trying to pump out content for everyone. I appreciate it!

I think that they add a really cool, unique, vibrant coloration to commonly kept fish in the hobby. I love the way they glow under a blue light, and how many colors are offered. The only downside is the fact that they cost like 4 times as much as their normal non-glowing species.

Most obvious ones include bigger fish that are with smaller fish that can fit in their mouth since they will be food in a heart beat. Additional cichlids of different lakes or areas, or those of different temperament.

I tend to not look so much at the brand, but ALWAYS purchase ones that are adjustable since the preset heaters are legit trash and always are set either a tad too low or a tad too high.
