I just got done setting up a new tank, and once I turned on the filters the water became immediately cloudy. Like white cloudy water. How can I fix this?

Did you wash the carbon bags that came with the filter first? Normally those are covered in small particles or carbon which makes the tank super white and cloudy for a day or two before it clears up on its own.

Did that clear things up? Any gravel or sand you have on the bottom can have dust as well that could cause the water to not be clear. How long did it take to clear up once you figured out what it was that made it cloudy?

A lot of times when you set up a tank fresh, it will be cloudy anywhere from 6 to 48 hours. I have had this happen a number of times and usually, it is nothing the worry about. Even after using soil substrate and not being able to see anything, it cleared in 12 hours.
